T. L. Young is an actor, novelist and screenwriter based in Los Angeles and Honolulu, Hawaii. Career T. L. Young has acted in local theater in Honolulu, Hawaii since graduating from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a B.A. in English and Theatre. In 1996, he won the Kumu Kahua Playwriting Award for One Acts for his play, “Accumulating Scars.” He has also written the independent films, Naked in the 21st Century (2004), the short film Kelly Deerdale, Naturist (2009), Violent Blue (2011) and Blue Dream (2013). In the 1990s, he wrote articles for naturist publications such as Bare in Mind, N: Nude and Natural, Naturally, Naturist Life International, and Health and Efficiency. Nearly all of his articles were collected in his self-published book, American Nudist: The Lost Journal, which includes a chronicle of his years organizing the Hawaii Skinnydippers in Hawaii Kai in addition to his poetry and short stories which became the basis of his independent feature film scripts. The book also contains an updated nude beach guide for the state of Hawaii. The book is not related to the experimental feature film of the same name, which he starred in but only wrote a few scenes for. He began his affiliation with Cinema Epoch’s films as Script Supervisor in their sophomore production, Mad Cowgirl (2006) which starred Sarah Lassez, James Duval and Star Trek’s Walter Koenig. He continued writing in collaboration with Gregory Hatanaka with the films, Violent Blue (2011) and Blue Dream, (2013) the latter which played at the San Francisco Indiefest, Boston Underground Film Festival, and the Gold Coast Film Festival in Australia.
