Synovel CollabSuite is a messaging and collaborative software solution for enterprises based on Open Source technologies. It provides integrated access to email, calendaring and instant messaging. The components of the product include: * Server software - It runs on GNU/Linux operating systems. The server uses open standards for communication and storage - SMTP, IMAP and POP for email, Caldav and ICAL for calendaring, XMPP for instant messaging. * Web based administration console - An Ajax based web interface to the administrator to manage users, groups, permissions, configure the services and monitor them. Large organizations can create a cluster of servers and mange all of them remotely from this interface. * Desktop client suite - It runs on Windows and Linux and provides integrated access to email, calendaring and instant messaging. It also provides some innovative features that improve productivity of the user. Some of them include a dashboard that pulls information from various applications and presents a summary and the feature of detecting a calendar event (meetings, appointments etc.) from email text. A free version of the client suite is available as a free and open source product called Spicebird * Web access - A rich Ajax based interface that works on all major browsers.
