Swami Poonanadha

Swami Poornanandha (29 July 1957 - 3 October 2012) was a Malaysian Hindu yogi.
Early life
Swami Poornanandha was born on 29 July 1957 to the couple Sri Supaya and Srimathi Alemelu in Sungai Petani,Kedah, Malaysia. He was named Chandran (immaculate and pure moon).
Being the forth of seven siblings, He appeared to be different from others. During His early childhood, His mother recounted devotional stories like Ramayana and Mahabaratha which in later years became the root of His compassion towards spirituality.
He started His primary education in a Tamil school in Sungai Petani and later continued His secondary education in a Malay school. He grew up as a charming boy and was adored by all.
His keen interested interest in spirituality and meditation had its beginning from his childhood. When He was 12 years old, He bought 'Rudrakhsa Mala' and started to chant 'Thiru Murugan' mantra where this led him to a state of meditation.
Spiritual Journey
After he completed his studies, he traveled to Singapore in 1979 to work. From an early age he began to have spiritual experiences and an overwhelming desire to search for spiritual fulfillment. At this point he realized he was missing a Guru in his life and began to search for one.
It is here where He met Swami Haridoss Giri who was preaching at Sri Srinivasa Temple for 48 days. His longing for spiritual knowledge drove him to meet Swami Haridoss Giri, disciple of Swami Nyananandha Giri. Finally on the 48th day, Swami Haridoss Giri initiated Him (Samaya Diksha) at the Sri Srinivasa Temple.
In 1981, he joined United Motor Works in Kuala Lumpur for three years and later joined Telekom Malaysia, a Government Sector. Even at this time He displayed His strong attachments towards spiritual tendencies and dedication to the truth. He lived a very humble life at all times. However behind His simple exterior hid a personality of spirituality.
Later it was a period of seeking the wisdom and blessing from various saints and sages all over including Singapore and India. In 1986, his tireless search ended with the blessing of the Divine when He met Swami Mathavanandha, disciple of Swami Shorupanandha, from the parampara of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharishi. Swami Mathavanandha from Madurai initiated Him (Mantra Diksha) as Swami Poornanandha.
His love and passion towards the His beloved Guru even stronger. He use to visit his Guru wherever he was present. In later years, on His Guru's instruction, He entered into second ashram of a Hindu life (Grihasta) and blessed with two daughters. He still continues His duties towards society and community. At this point His urge to serve the society increased.
Mathava Jothi Tapovanam
In 1991, after Swami Mathavanandha held a 'Yaga Pooja' at his house, He began His service by a having small bhajan class in His home. This was the beginning of his path that led to the formation of Mathava Jothi Tapovanam. In year 1994, for the first time, Swami Sorupanandha's Aradhana Vizha was held at his house.
In the year 1998, Swami Mathavanandha entered into Maha Samadhi. Equipped with his Guru's blessing, Swami Poornanandha started His outreach programme by preaching, conducting pooja, bhajan and meditation classes. He traveled to all over Malaysia to give awareness to society. He faced a lot of obstacles and hardships but His service never met a dead end. After a period of time, His service began to shine among people.
Today after a long struggle, Swami Poornanandha has established Mathava Jothi Tapovanam which will serve his Guru's as well as His service towards society. Under His supervision, a few Centre's have been established in several states in Malaysia. His boundless love towards society makes him a beloved Guruji.
Maha Samadhi
In 2011, Swami Poornanandha visited ashrams in Tamil Nadu. He visited His Guru's Maha Samadhi. He also visited various ashrams in Chennai, Thiru Annamalai, Thirukovilur, Thennagur, Kolli Malai and Rameshwaram. He back to Malaysia to continue His service to Hindu communities in Malaysia.
On 2 September 2012, Swami Poornanandha continued his spiritual journey to India. He visited Thennagur, Thirukovilur, Thiru Annamalai and North India. He visited and meditated at Kedarnath, Jotishmath, Badrinath, Vyasa Guha, Vasistha Guha, Kodiswar (place where His beloved Guru, Swami Haridhos Giri entered Jala Samadhi), Haridhwar, Rishikesh and Guptakashi. He traveled more than 15,000 km and met a lot of Sadhus during his journey. After visited all the important and holy places for Hindus in North India, He returned to Chennai. On 3 October 2012, before returning to Malaysia, He entered Maha Samadhi at Chennai. His Maha Samadhi is located at Sungai Petani, Kedah, Malaysia.
