Suryamukhi is a forthcoming 2008 film directed by the acclaimed South Indian Director Shaji Karun. The film is produced by Bobby Bedi under the banner of Kaleidoscope Entertainment. The plot loosely revolves around the relationship of the painter Raja Ravi Varma and his model Ganga, a Marathi lady. Most of the present day commonly accepted imageries of Indian Goddess are of those Ravi Varma painted with Ganga as his model. Ravi Varma was forced to paint some Nude Pictures to save his printing press. This creates a furore among the religious fanatics. The director claims that "More than a biography of Ravi Varma, it is a depiction of a small part of his life. But those years are enough to know him as a person. As I tell his story through the eyes of this model, I could create drama.". He also opine that "The most important aspect of my film is the relationship between the model and artist, which is platonic." and Vidya Balan, but delay in production schedule made them bail out of the project. Now the director is possibly in talks with Preity Zinta.
