Sulieni Layt also known as Sulieni Leiti and Julian Layt was born on 21 October 1980 in Brisbane, Australia. Sulieni is a radio broadcaster and television personality. He broadcasts the Tongan Language Programme on Radio 4EB FM 98.1 in Brisbane, Australia. He was also co-host of the Tongan weekly television news programme TNews that is telecast on Stratos and Triangle Television in Auckland, New Zealand. Sulieni is an Australian citizen and learnt to speak the Tongan Language from age 11 whilst his parents were involved in training pilots for the now defunct Royal Tongan Airlines. He has served as broadcaster for the Tongan Language Programme on Radio 4EB from 1993 to 2001 and from 2003 to 2005 and from 2009 to present. He established Australia's first Pacific Islands Youth Radio Programme "Pacific Wave" on Radio 4EB in 1999. Sulieni's studied journalism, Spanish, Asian Studies and Indonesian at the University of Queensland. His radio work includes broadcasting for the Maori, Tongan and Pacific Islands Language Programmes on Radio 4EB in Brisbane, Australia. He was a broadcaster for the Tongan Language Programme on the Pacific Radio Network of New Zealand (Niu FM) in 2001 and broadcaster on Christian Radio KNWJ in Pago Pago, American Samoa from 2002 to 2003. Sulieni co-hosted TNews for Pasifika Broadcasting (formerly In Joy Productions) in Pukekohe, New Zealand from 2005 to 2009. He has also hosted Pacific Viewpoint and the Samoan News on Triangle Television. Sulieni is a fully accredited NAATI interpreter in the Tongan Language and speaks English, Tongan, Samoan, Indonesian, Pidgin-English, Maori and basic Spanish. He also has an affiliation with the Pacific peoples and in particular the Kingdom of Tonga. Sulieni currently resides with his Tongan wife and two children in Brisbane, Australia. Together they are involved in the Hope Christian Assembly church and active within the Brisbane Tongan Community. Sulieni continues his work for Radio 4EB FM and freelance reporting for Tongan media in Australia, New Zealand and Tonga. Amongst Sulieni's work include interviews with Hon. Lupepau'u Tuita, Hon.
