Sulaiman Azimi

Sulaiman Azimi is a singer/songwriter/producer born December 17, 1990, in Alexandria, Virginia, USA.

Influences
An aspiring musician from a young age, Azimi is self taught in guitar, voice, piano, and various international instruments from his parents' native Afghanistan. Azimi is inspired by his family, but mainly his father, who was a well-known pop singer in Kabul, Afghanistan before the Soviet invasion. Growing up in Alexandria, Azimi was always surrounded by eclectic sounds of music. While Afghan pop songs were always in the cassette decks, he was exposed to several Bollywood films, which feature musicals with constructed score.

American music was also very prominent in his influence growing up. Entertainers such as Michael Jackson and even rock bands like Nirvana and Guns & Roses were on MTV then, and introduced him to the types of music he wanted to explore. Hip-Hop music is still, and was then a huge factor in the songs and music Azimi composes.

Recent activity

In the summer of 2007, Azimi met his producer and photographer Quincy Ledbetter through a mutual contact. Ledbetter has produced tracks for major artists such as Young Buck from G-Unit and Petey Pablo. Azimi is now working on several EPs to be released throughout in 2008.
