Subomi Plumptre (born Adesubomi Plumptre) is a leading African business & brand strategist, blogger, mentor and social media expert of Nigerian descent. A member of the executive committee at Alder Consulting, the Governing Board of the Nigeria Leadership Initiative, the Board of Trustees of the Leke Alder Foundation and the Board of A Figment of Imagination, a 3D firm; Plumptre has worked on a number of diverse Government and Corporate projects including the Educational Sector Transformation Plan of the Federal Ministry of Education; The Reform Programmes of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs & the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the Restructuring of the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development. Early Life and Education Subomi Plumptre was born to Wing Commander (Rtd.) Dr. Hubert Adeyemi Plumptre (September 27, 1942 - February 22, 2016), a Medical Doctor, Administrator and Air Force Officer and Mrs Christie Uayemen Plumptre (April 4, 1945 - August 7, 2015), an evangelist, entrepreneur and professional nurse. She was raised in Lagos, Nigeria. Plumptre attended Airforce Secondary School Ikeja before proceeding to University of Ilorin, where she obtained a B.sc in Microbiology. Career Plumptre began her professional career in 2005 at Alder Consulting. She has been a team lead for Alder on a number of diverse Government and Corporate projects including the Educational Sector Transformation Plan of the Federal Ministry of Education; The Reform Programmes of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs & the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the Restructuring of the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development. She also spearheaded the development of an External Communication Programme for the British Council; coordinated the Acculturation Programme for the Brand Transformation of First Bank and is tasked with developing ongoing Brand Strategy for Guaranty Trust Bank. She is team lead on Alder Consulting’s SME development programme - Enterprise 500. She is also a co-chair of the Management Board at the Nigeria Leadership Initiative. In May 2015, she spoke at the New Media Conference in Lagos. She was also a speaker at the Power Talk Series, an event hosted by Leading Ladies Africa. Plumptre is the author of a published collection of poetry and essays titled No Bullsh*t. A book described by one reviewer as "clearly a bundle of varieties". Another reviewer described her offering as "a tantalizing bite of what the writer can do." Her pieces have appeared on several blogs, online journals and print medium including JacknJillLive and YNaija. In the course of her career, Plumptre has traveled well and has conducted cultural studies in Europe, the Americas, Asia ans Africa. Fellowships Plumptre is Co-Chair of the Management Board of the Nigeria Leadership Initiative (NLI), whose fellows are members of the Aspen Global Leadership Network (AGLN). She is also an Associate of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON). Awards and Recognitions Plumptre won Best Graduating Student in Copywriting & Layout in the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), Professional Examination. In March 2016, YNaija named her one of Nigeria's 100 most inspiring women, with writer Emeka N describing her in particular as "a creative genius and social media denizen."
