StudentFreelance

StudentFreelance was founded in 2012 as an online job board connecting talented students to employers in need of specific skills. .
Background
StudentFreelance was founded by Michael Talei. Talei had previously served as vice president of News Corp, President of iEscrow.com, and Managing Director of Los Angeles based incubator MD Capital. Talei managed projects that employed freelancers overseas. It was when he hired students and was impressed with the results that he conceived of the idea for StudentFreelance. As of April 2013, StudentFreelance.com has more than 50,000 members.
Mission
StudentFreelance's state mission is "to deliver great talent while keeping jobs in America". Anyone can post a job but to get hired as a freelancer, a student will need to prove their affiliation with their school by confirming their school email address. The types of jobs posted on the site are on a contractual or hourly basis and they are diverse, ranging from property management to web design.
Employers could hire local professionals or outsource to workers in foreign countries. Hiring students to work for them on a freelance basis allows them to scale their business operations while taking out some challenges such as time zone differences, cultural, and language barriers. <ref name="HuffPost" />
