Striata Reader is a proprietary decryption software package used by the financial services, telecommunications, insurance and utility industries to deliver confidential information via a secure .emc email attachment. Features Confidentiality A file with an .emc extension is encrypted with an industrial strength cipher algorithm, called triple DES, which ensures the integrity and confidentiality of the file contents. Striata Reader decrypts .emc files, with the optional added security of a shared secret, making the encrypted file contents available for viewing by an authenticated user. Convenience The Striata Reader download is less than 60 kilobytes in size, so installation thereof does not require the end user to reboot their machine. Installation is a once off requirement and the initial setup process can be completed in less than 30 seconds. Installation files are also scanned daily to insure that they remain safe and malware free. Diversity The .emc file format is highly flexible and can therefore service a number of secure document delivery needs, including: Encrypted email attachments that contain eBills, eStatements, eInvoices, ePolicies etc. These electronic documents are exact replicas of their paper counterparts but can provide additional interactive features such as the ability to log queries or issue payments electronically. Support Striata Reader is available for all major operating systems, including Windows, Apple Mac OS, Linux and Solaris SPARC. The reader was downloaded more than 700,000 times in 2009 and Striata provides support at a global scale.
