Stopping the hate

Stopping The Hate LGBT Human Rights Coalition was founded in July 2008 by transgender actress, singer, author Meghan Chavalier. The organization was formed to stop hate crimes within the LGBT Community but has since branched out to other areas suffering from global issues such as AIDS/HIV Prevention, Homelessness, and many others

Criticism
Critics of Stopping The Hate have said the organization would never find a footing in Human Rights issues but the organization proved the naysayers wrong. The organization took a new approach to LGBT issues in October 2008 exposing many anti-gay organizations like Exodus International, The American Family Association, and most recently they have called for Bayer to make a formal apology for HIV contamination in the early 1980s

Columnists
The organization began with 12 columnists in July 2008. After a re-working many of the columnists were let go from the organization either because of lack of material for the website or because the organization decided to move into a more controversial realm of LGBT issues and some didn't feel comfortable with the new direction.

Support Of Barack Obama
Stopping The Hate began a campaign to elect Barack Obama in July 2008 and didn't quit until the election was over. The columnists wrote scathing columns on John McCain and Sarah Palin. There wasn't one nice thing said about either of the latter for 5 months until Barack Obama won the election, and after winning, there hasn't been a column about McCain or Palin since. Many said the website was being one-sided in the election but founder Meghan Chavalier fired back that she refused to promote anyone that promotes hatred for the LGBT Community and stood by all of the columnists and their columns.
