Stillink is the brand name used for VoIP gateway and signaling converters designed and manufactured by Telesis A.S. The name has been derived from words Still and link. Since signaling conversion and VoIP connectivity co-existed in the same system, the manufacturer calls Stillink devices as combined digital VoIP gateway and signaling converter systems. Stillink devices have E-carrier (E1) interfaces supporting various Time division multiplexing protocols, like Signaling System 7, V5 interface (V5.2), DSS1, QSIG, Channel Associated Signaling (CAS) R1 , R2, E and M signaling digital emulation and ethernet supporting VoIP protocols and encryption methods like Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), H.323, Advanced Encryption Standard (AES256). The notable application with Stillink devices is the V5 interface (V5.2 protocol) conversion, which allows: V5.2 Access network (AN) systems to be connected to Local Telephone exchanges (LEs) that do not support V5.2 V5.2 AN vendors to facilitate the connection of their V5.2 ANs to an existing non-compliant LE or softswitch
