Steven John Glass (born June 2, 1967) is a British entrepreneur and pharmaceutical professional, who is the founder of Orbona Pharma Ltd. Glass is a widely recognised, charismatic individual interested in paediatric orphan drugs. As well as working as a Senior Vice President for Clinigen Group plc, Glass is a Non-Executive Director of Orbona Pharma Ltd after having gained recognition through being in several other senior job roles within the pharmaceutical industry. Growing up in Whitley Bay on the coast near Newcastle, Glass later attended Leicester University where he studied BSc Combined Science. After 25 years in the pharmaceutical industry, Glass now has a wife with whom he has two daughters. Having left Leicester University, Glass begun working as a Sales Representative, and quickly moved up the ranks to become Business Unit Head at Sanofi in Guildford, Surrey. In 2001, Glass begun working for Schering-Plough (now Merck), a US based pharmaceutical company; it was with this company that he and his family moved to Lisbon, Portugal one year later. The Glass Family resided in a house on the Estoril Coast, with a view of Praia do Guincho. After two years in Portugal, Glass returned to the UK as CEO and Managing Director of Altana Pharma for two years, before being offered President and General Manager of Nycomed in Paris, France in 2007. As Glass took the job, he commuted to Paris weekly from his home near Winchester to Central Paris, where he had a flat. Just before the family were ready to join him in Paris, Glass was offered a job by BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. where he would be held responsible for the sales and distribution of Naglazyme as Vice President and General Manager for Europe, the Middle East & Africa. After two years with BioMarin, Glass became Head of Global Operations for Galen Ltd in Northern Ireland before setting up his own company (Orbona Pharma Ltd), which specialises in orphan drugs. It is working with partners to globally commercialise two late stage (phase III) products. After spending three and a half years on this set-up, in 2014 Glass decided to become a Non-Executive Director of the company and begun working for Clinigen Group plc where he is SVP of Clinigen CTS. Personal life Glass was born in Country Durham and grew up in Whitley Bay (nr Newcastle). In 1985, he attended Leicester University to study BSc Combined Science. After University, he moved in with his girlfriend Jane, who he later married on June 15, 1990. Three years later Jane gave birth to their first daughter, Emily Kate on February 24, 1994. July 7, 1997 saw the birth of their second daughter, Lydia Charlotte. Both daughters grew up in the family home in a village outside Winchester. Whilst living in Portugal, they attended a British international private school (St. Julians School) in Carcavelos, near Lisbon, Portugal. Emily is now at University, whilst Lydia is currently studying for her A-Levels at Sixth Form.
