Steve Kufeld

Steve Kufeld (1939-1997) was an American amateur astronomer and inventor. He is most famous for inventing the Telrad, which is a system of Reflector sight.
Life
He was born on December 3, 1939, in Great Bend, Kansas. He obtained a degree in mechanical engineering from Kansas State University. He lived in Pine Mountain, California. He was the treasurer of the Los Angeles Astronomical Society.
He died at his home in Pine Mountain, California on June 30, 1997. The Telrad is a finder scope that can be mounted to almost any telescope. It allows the astronomer to aim his telescope with both eyes and without reversing the image. It projects three red circles into space, making it easy to center the scope on bright stars or planets.
