StarTex Software is a company that develops environmental, health and safety (EHS) software. StarTex is headquartered in Houston, Texas with offices in the The Hague. StarTex is a subsidiary of Petrotechnical Data Systems (PDS), an oil and gas software consulting and development company.
History
StarTex was founded in 2009 to help EHS departments simplify compliance, prevent occupational incidents, and promote sustainable business practices with its main product, EHS Insight.
In 2013, StarTex relocated to CityCentre IV building located in Houston, Texas.

According to Verdantix, an independent analyst firm focusing on energy, EHS, and sustainability research, corporate spending on EHS software will grow at an annual rate of 15% over the next five years creating a $1 billion market. The report “is based on interviews with 250 heads of EH&S in 13 countries and deal flow data for 2013 sales from the 13 leading providers of EH&S software. Highlights from the study include:
* Corporate investment in EH&S software for 2014 totals $584 million across eight of the world’s largest economies
* EH&S software spending will exceed $1 billion in 2018 in eight of the world’s largest economies reflecting a 15% annual rate of increase
* Comparing industries, compound annual growth rates range from 6% in the mining sector to 17% in chemicals
* Oil and gas firms will account for 43% of total spend in 2019, representing $494 million of annual investment in EH&S software”
