Starlight Registry

Starlight Registry is an online wedding registry launched in 2010 by Sarah Rigos, who claims the site was launched out of frustration due to traditional wedding registries not meeting the demands of the modern couple.
Shortly after launching Starlight Registry coined the term 'contribution registry' to describe the site's unique technology. Traditionally, wedding registries only allowed guest to contribute to a single gift each, which meant that the couple are likely to receive a large quantity of lower value gifts. However, nowadays it is far more likely for newly married couples to be looking for a lower quantity of higher value items such as a deposit for a house, or a car. Starlight Registry's contribution registry technology has enabled couples to allow guests to contribute to a single gift.
Starlight Registry also differs from another common form of wedding registry, which invites guest to contribute to the couples honeymoon. This style of wedding registry is often referred to as a 'honeymoon registry', which although very similar to a contributory wedding registry, is often more restrictive due to the fine print and expiration dates.
History and overview
Starlight Registry was founded by Sarah Rigos in 2010. Sarah was born in Seattle, Washington, and attended Cornell University to study Comparative Government before completing a Masters in Comparative Government at the University of Oxford, UK. Sarah founded Starlight Registry on the principle that every couple is unique, and so every wedding registry should be distinctive. Sarah Rigos is also an active voice in the online wedding industry community and has written for a number of popular wedding related blogs including BridePop.
Following the launch in 2010, Starlight Registry was the subject of online media attention including a feature on Yahoo News..
