"StarCraft: Revelations" (1999) is a short story which takes place in the StarCraft universe and is authorized by Blizzard Entertainment in Amazing Stories Magazine, issue 596. It was authored by Chris Metzen and Sam Moore, two Blizzard Employees with a cover by Blizzard art director Sam Didier. Plot introduction The story involved a first contact encounter between Humans, Protoss and Zerg that quickly became a war. Reception Metzen hoped that the story would give fans a perspective on the depth of the Starcraft universe as well as introduce non-gamers to it. Salon.com's Andrew Leonard found the story to be a disappointment, feeling that it was better written than most Starcraft fanfiction, but ultimately an advertisement for the game and a disservice to the science fiction roots of the magazine. |
