Star Trek: The Pepsi Generation

Star Trek: The Pepsi Generation is a fan film that was made by fans of the Star Trek franchise in 1988. It was written by Ryan K. Johnson and Darrell Bratz, with Johnson producing and directing. It primarily parodies Star Trek: The Next Generation, although it also pokes fun at Max Headroom, Doctor Who, William Shatner, and Harlan Ellison.
Plot
In the film, the "Ferrari" have stolen all of the Pepsi from Starbase Seven-Up, and it is up to the crew of the Enterprise to rescue it. Captain Picard, along with Doodah the android, Ya Har, Jordashe, Rigor Mortis, Sexx Toii (the Betamax counselor), Ensign Expendable, and Weasley Crushme all leap into action. Along the way, viewers meet the harried Star Trek writing crew and the Ferrari's fearsome leader.
History
The film was shot in Seattle, Washington's Discovery Park. Having to shoot bridge scenes in a normal apartment living room was creatively explained as due to a "malfunction of the ship's interior decorating computer."
The film premiered at the Norwescon science fiction convention in March 1988, and won the convention's film festival, and when the film was played on the hotel's in-house channel, bootleg copies started circulating immediately, and the film has been a hit with fans ever since.
A sequel was planned, involving the crew meeting a planet full of men named Steve, time travel, and rescuing Pepsi from the diabolical clutches of Elvis-impersonating "Coca-Klingons." The sequel was never put in to production, due to the loss of Santo to professional acting jobs.
On August 26, 1996, the BBC aired a documentary on Star Trek parodies, and Star Trek: The Pepsi Generation was one of the featured films.
In popular culture
