History
Genesis
K.Ansari was working in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and had very little money. He started running Cargo business between Jeddah and Chennai, picking up the customer and their valuables and sending them into their home very safely.
When he experienced, Ansari decided to go into the courier business himself along with his brother's. He found a niche that no other company was filling in south india. By flying the documents ahead of the freight they could be processed prior to vessel arrival and save valuable time after arrival.
Ansari put up a portion of his loans to start the company, bringing in his two brothers K.Navas Kani and K.Siraj Deen as partners. All three shared a tempo that they drove around Chennai to pick up the customers and their valuables in it, then sent the customer into their home very safely by offering low cost. As the business took off, they started hiring new couriers to join the company.
The company started expanding their service through the early 2000s, first to the Kuwait, then UAE, Dubai, Singapore and GULF. For lower-volume routes the company would hire couriers on a one-off basis, trading airline tickets for the delivery. This simple expedient would repeatedly save the company many legal hassles in the future, when would-be investigators would take them up on the open offer and make a delivery while taking their family on vacation. several agents became regular couriers for the company.
Domestic expansion
In the 2008s ST was one of the only truly international delivery companies, and the only one offering service like places that could not be served by any other delivery service. The only major competitor in the southern region was Professional Courier ,which didn't open its first domestic service like places that could not be served by any other delivery service, expanding to Sinagapore, Malaysia, Indonesia. Nevertheless, the domestic market was extremely profitable.
ST turned their attention to the express market in the India, following the success of Professional Courier, and opened a major distribution hub in Chennai . However, ST was never able to overcome PC's head start, capturing only less percenatage of the domestic market in initial stage. By the late 2008s the domestic operations were losing money, while the foreign operations continued to account for 2/3rds of the company's income. A Gulf hub opened in Jeddah in 2000's..By later stage,ST courier picked up and took profitable business in the domestic market.
