Squigs is a puzzle computer game like Columns and Tetris. It was first created in 1993 by Jon Hibbins on the Amiga. More recently Squigs has appeared on iOS devices. The Amiga version was developed by Jon Hibbins and released to Amiga Power magazine on the September 1993 cover disk 29. An iOS version was developed by Jon Hibbins and released on 7 November 2011 to the App Store. Description The game takes place inside a vertical well, as in Tetris. Columns of three shape and colour Squigs appear, one at a time, at the top of the well and fall to the bottom at varying speeds. They stack on top of each other until a row of 3 or more (5 is maximum) horizontal, vertical or diagonal Squigs of the same type are matched; they then disappear making more space. The player can move a Squig left and right, and can also cycle the positions of the Squigs. Randomly (based on level) special blocks appear; metal blocks can only be exploded, dynamite removes a column, bomb removes left and right of the location dropped, electric removes the row. Squigs fall at a faster rate after each level is reached. The game is over when the well is full. Game modes *Normal: Progress is score and level based *Rescue: The player must rescue the Squig shouting "Help" at the bottom of the screen Versions *Squigs: Amiga Power cover disk (no music) *Squigs: public domain (with music) *Squigs: iPhone Music Although the Amiga Power version did not have music because of floppy disk constraints, a version was available in the public domain with music (the tune was called "Zit Pop") by John W.
