Spirit of the North

Spirit of the North was a compilation album by Canadian progressive rock band CANO, released in 1979 by A&M Records, catalogue number AM 487. The album compiled tracks from the band's four studio albums, it traced CANO's integration of pop, rock and jazz influences into what was originally a folk-based style.
It was the band's final release in its original form. By the time of the album's release, founding member André Paiement had committed suicide two years earlier, shortly after the release, Wasyl Kohut died of an aneurysm. In 1981, the few remaining original members released the album Camouflage under the new band name Masque.
On the RPM charts Carrie reached #78 on May 3, 1980. In the long time between the recording and release, Cliff Richard had released his version the same song, achieving as high as #4 on the UK and Ireland charts. Carrie was co-written by Terry Britten, who went on to write "" for Tina Turner.
