Spencer Wood (sport psychologist)

Spencer Wood is a sport psychologist who, since 2018, has served as the mental skills coach for the Detroit Tigers in the American League Central of Major League Baseball.
Wood is currently placed on the U.S. Olympic Registry of Sport Psychology and has contributed to the preparation of numerous Olympic programs including teams at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs and various teams within Trinidad and Tobago’s Olympic Program. Prior to becoming a mental skills coach, Wood attended Bluefield College, earning Valedictorian honors and two undergraduate degrees. In 2012, Wood was named Alumnus of the Year by Bluefield College, and, in May 2015, delivered the keynote Bluefield College 93rd Annual Spring Commencement Graduation address. Wood also attended California University for a master's degree in exercise science, Virginia Commonwealth,Tennessee Tech, Illinois, Michigan, University of Nebraska Omaha, and University of Nevada, Las Vegas, among others. In addition to his consulting career, Wood also has participated in numerous speaking engagements including: The Nike Football Coach of the Year Awards, , National Soccer Coaches Convention, Montana Coaches Association Clinic, and the NFCA National Convention.
