Summary

:South Pointe Middle School located in Diamond Bar, California is a part of the
Walnut Valley Unified School District. South Pointe is wonderful middle school
serving students in grades six through eighth. South Pointe was awarded as a California
Distinguished School in 1999 and 2005. On Great Schools,
this middle school has been rated a 9/10.

Technology

:South Pointe School is also well-known for its use of technology. One of the seventh
grade history teachers, Ms. Brittenham, runs a Podcasting
[] site online. You can watch some
student creations of SPMS. Along with the podcasting, this middle school also has a
Multimedia Class for eighth grade students with a 2.5 GPA or higher. This class take
place at a 0 Period (before school begins) and involves recording a brodcast of the
morning school-wide news, KSPS. Each morning, as the bell rings, all of the televisions
automatically power on and the newscast is played. KSPS is mainly involves any
activities going on that day, an announcement of the previous days sports game, and
on Fridays, humorous skits are played by a sixth grade history teacher, Mr. Peshman.
He often gets into arguments with the teacher of the Multimedia Class, Mr. Everman.

In the enormous library, there are also 5 WIndows XP computers with printing capabilities, as well as 7 Apple iMacs.
:Each classroom is accompanied with a Dynacom Box. These boxes are hooked up to the televisions and allow the teacher to control the A/V input, as well as the power, volume, and
program setting. This is how it is made possible to automatically broadcast KSPS Morning News daily. These boxes also make it possible to make scheduled viewings of shows. A teacher can schedule a video to come on at a certain part of a day, so the teacher just has to press the "On" button. Along with the Dynacom Boxes, each classroom is accompanied with a computer/video projector. Having a projector in each classroom makes it easy for note taking and slide show presentations. When necessary, students may enter the pods and work on assignments on the huge selection of computers in there. They may also print their documents too. South Pointe pupils are required to have a USB flash drive, so they may save their work from school and continue their work at home. Several assignments require Microsoft Work.
:South Pointe Middle School also has a great system of homework and parent-to-student/teacher communication. Each teacher at SPMS has a personal website on the popular school website
Teacher Web []. Updated daily, students are able to see their homework online and from home. Some teachers also have online grades posted on the website as well, being that all of their grades are kept on a computer. Finally, South Pointe has a new website called DigiAdvisor []. This site is run by the seventh grade counslor, Mr. Johnson, who is starting a multimedia class for those interested in Graphic Arts, Video Production, and Website Design. South Pointe's Modern Atmosphere

:While walking on the campus for the first time, many will believe that they are stepping on a collage campus. South Pointe has a very modern style to it. Many trees, grassy areas, picnic tables, and a lot of shade.
