Sound Spark Studios is an American music, media, design, and technology company and global brand Standard.
Sound Spark Studios was founded by musician and entrepreneur Jeremy C. Southgate.
History
Founding
In January 2011, in the first half of his second year of matriculation, age 20, Jeremy Southgate was displeased with university, dropped out of the University of Chicago, and spent several months (January through August), without internet except for an iPad, practicing and composing music on his voice, violin and guitar in his family's residence in West Newton, Massachusetts.
After briefly transferring to Boston University, where he took his first computer science course and an Emergency Medical Technician course, Southgate again dropped out and swore off university on October 5, 2011, incidentally the same day as the Death of Steve Jobs.
In November 2011, Southgate found a 39hr/week job at a Newton Starbucks and began earning, investing, and building a professional music studio. He also continued to teach himself computer programming such as html, css, php, mysql, javascript, jQuery, and more via Code Academy and W3 Schools. He also taught himself intellectual property law with Cornell's Legal Information Institute and the Government Publishing Office.
Also in November 2011, Jeremy Southgate authored the Sound Spark Studios Mark Artwork (brand, logo), and on June 28, 2012, he filed an application to register the logo as a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
In Summer of 2013, Southgate began to record his debut SoundSpark music album by recording drum tracks with a local drummer, from Plymouth, Massachusetts, who had reached out to Southgate through Southgate's blog/website because of Southgate's Extended Play sample.
In December 2013, having accumulated approximately $48,000 of music studio equipment, Southgate departed Starbucks and began to work full-time on music.
The Year 2014
In April Southgate composed, recorded, and self-released SoundSpark.
