The Sony Ericsson z520, is a mobile phone manufactured by the Japanese-Swedish firm Sony Ericsson.
It is available in white, but the colour is changeable using Style-Up™ skins.
The z520/z520i/z520c/z520a is a GSM clamshell phone. Its size (Height-Width-Depth) is 83 x 46 x 24 mm and its weight is 94 grams. It is a quadband phone (850/900/1800/1900).
The z520 is a cameraphone equipped with a camera (on right side of flip-up front) that can take digital photographs at VGA resolution, as well as capture short movie clips at 128x96 or 176x144 pixel resolutions.
It supports WAP 2.0, GPRS and (depending on operator and model.) Its connectivity includes an IrDA port and Bluetooth.
The z520 has two displays, one on its external side (a 4096-colour, 80x101-pixel STN display) and one inside (a 65,536-colour, 128x160-pixel LCD). It supports monophonic & polyphonic ringtones & mp3. This telephone is compatible with mobile games in Java (J2ME) and applications.
Its internal memory (16 Megabytes) cannot be expanded. The memory is used for applications and media, however, it does not allow you to fill the 16MB with saved SMS and MMS messages.
In the US the phone is available from AT&T and Centennial. It comes with blue colored clamshell covers and it is branded with the cingular logo both in the inside and outside.
In Europe, this phone is available with Vodafone (Vodafone Live!) and it is also available without any modification.
The phone has been criticized to be based on/ or strongly look like the Siemens CF62T which also shares the same antenna design, as it is a loop, and when an incoming call is being received, the outer panel of the numerical keypad, lights up in a strobe in a variety of different colors, these two phones share these distinct features.
