SoftTalk Messenger

SoftTalk messenger is a Nigerian freeware messaging and voice-over -IP (VoIP) service designed by a Nigerian software developer Simple Azenabor and owned by SoftTalk Communication. It allows users to exchange text messages, make video and voice calls, share documents and shop online. The application runs on android and IOS devices.
History
SoftTalk messenger was created by Simple Azenabor a Nigerian-Japan based software developer and chairman and CEO of SoftTalk Communication. The Beta version of SoftTalk client application was released in 2018 to Nigerian users and the full version was released to global users a year later (2019). SoftTalk messenger requires a mobile telephone number to sign up. It allows users to send text and voice messages, and supports free voice calls to mobile telephone lines offline. Users can make video and voice calls online and supports unlimited number of participants in group chat. Voice and text message are encrypted from end-to-end. Users are given limited token for free local and international calls to a number of designated countries including US, Canada, UK, Japan, India and Singapore with option to top up call units when they exhaust their free call units. SoftTalk supports sharing of documents and media files and users can shop directly from the app.
The app witnessed an upsurge of users in 2020 as users seek alternative to messaging app giant WhatsApp following introduction of new privacy policies by Facebook.
