Smith County Highway 14 (CR 14) is a two-lane, state-maintained highway in Smith County, within the U.S. state of Mississippi. The highway is owned by the Smith County Board of Supervisors, but is maintained by the Mississippi Department of Transportation. It is the first county road in Smith County that has been upgraded to full highway specifications. It is the primary route to the Taylorsville Industrial Park. History CR 14 started out as the Taylorsville-Mount Olive Road. Later on, after the formation of the E911 system in, the road was assigned the number 14 and was given official name of Smith County Road 14, or SCR 14. The road was not paved with hot-mix asphalt, but rather was paved by using chip sealing. This proved to be very hazardous as the heavy truck traffic from the industrial park pushed the chips down into the tar bed, turning the entire road into a "slick strip" when inclement weather set in. In October 2015, the Smith County Board of Supervisors secured a grant from the Federal Highway Administration and the Mississippi Office of State-Aid Road Construction to completely rebuild SCR 14 and upgrade the road to highway standards. In mid-2016, construction on the new highway began. The road was shut down to through traffic and work began with the replacement of all culverts along the route with new concrete piping. Several slopes were graded and most of the ditches along the route were paved with Portland cement. Construction is still ongoing as of November 2016. Major intersections
