Slice (company)

slice (formerly known as SlicePay) is an Indian financial technology company and challenger bank based in Bangalore. Founded in 2016, slice is an app-based credit card provider in India. It provides a virtual Visa credit card in app as well as a credit card for free known as a "Slice Super Card". The company's wholly-owned subsidiary, Quadrillion Finance Private Limited, has a non-banking financial company (NBFC) license from the Reserve Bank of India.
History
Slice was founded in January 2016 by Rajan Bajaj. The company started its operations initially by providing EMI payments services tailored to millennials and Gen Z. In 2019, in partnership with Visa, it launched the slice card which allows the users to make both online and offline payments. It also received a non-banking financial company (NBFC) license from the Reserve Bank of India in the same year.
Ahead of the 2022 Indian Premier League, slice signed a three-year sponsorship deal with Mumbai Indians reportedly worth 100 crores and the biggest sponsorship deal in the history of IPL.
Funding
slice has raised a total of $240 million funding in both equity and debt. Its top investors include Tiger Global, Insight Partners, Gunosy Capital, Blume, Northern Arc and Das Capital, among others. The company was valued at over $1 billion after its Series B round in November 2021, making it a unicorn company.
