SKP Pro Audio (Sound, Knowledge and Passion) was born in 1991. The company is involved in the design and manufacturing of audio professiona<nowiki/>l products. In the beginning SKP concentrated its efforts in the Latin American market. Later on it would make its way to the United States. History The historical background of the brand go back to the youth of Engineer Hugo Nicasio Mendez Collado, who since 1949 began making amplifiers in his house. Years later they would be sold in the main cities of Latin America. Later on his children would continue his legacy, and they founded SKP. In Latin America in the early 90s, sound reinforcement professionals and musicians only had very few affordable products offering, which did not had in count the particularities of the region (such as electrical power supply fluctuations). The company has a presence in 28 different countries with branches throughout Latin America and in the USA. Key dates * In 1993 the company developed Line Array systems with high levels of sound pressure in spite of its small, compact size. * In 1995 SKP Pro Audio saw the need of houses of worship, and it created audio lines for installation with applications geared toward that segment of the market. Later on it would replicate the concept for educational establishments, airports and public transportation stations, hospitals, clubs, restaurants and theme. It has had continuity to the present time. * In 2000 SKP developed its line of class D audio amplifiers called D-force, with the technology that SKP named “IDEA” (Intelligent Distortion Eliminator Appliance). It made SKP a trend setter in Latin America. * In 2001 when the iPod came out, the company reinvented its line of DJ mixers incorporating in them the possibility of linking the player with the mixer. * In the beginning of 2002 the company entered into the American market moving our headquarters to Miami, Fl. Also this year, they began to design new products, which would then be marketed and sold in the United States. * In midyear of 2002 a new project resulted in a new line of power amplifiers with built in 3 way crossover. * During 2003, the boom year of active speakers, SKP launched the SK-6P model (bi-amplified acoustic box). * In the 2004 catalogue, SKP came out with a new line of microphones, which included wireless, vocal, instrumental and gooseneck microphones. * In 2007 digital signal processors joined the SKP family of products. * In 2010 the SKM line of floor monitors, coaxial bi-amplified, was developed. * In 2014 expanding its line of mixers, it launched new lines with USB interface, Bluetooth connectivity, DSP, and recording. * At the beginning of 2015 under the Digimod line, SKP added digital wireless microphones to its catalogue. * In mid 2016 SKP incorporated amplifiers of 70/ 100 v with no transformer, multizone amplifiers, ceiling speakers and volume controls. They are geared toward the installation segment.
