Skoble, or skobling, is a term referring to the act of spilling food on one's clothing while eating. Typical usage includes, "Make sure you don't skoble on that white shirt" or "You just skobled on yourself" or "You're skobling that soup all over the place".
When dining with one who is a particularly prodigious skobler, it is sometimes necessary to ensure a proper physical distance is maintained, i.e. to remain outside of the "skoble-zone" or splash zone ("Don’t skoble on me" and "Am I out of the skoble-zone on this side of the table?").
The saying originated on the west coast of the United States in the late 1990's, and was first broadly heard in the 2007 movie "Dan in Real Life".
