The Six Finger Think Tank is a research and educational organization devoted to preserving, organizing and publishing the knowledge of experts in the music industry. Contributors include leading academics in music business education and music industry veterans with experience in artist management, promotions, press, radio, publishing, recording & production, A&R, and other aspects of the music industry.
The Six Finger Think Tank, also known as the SFTT, is a private, for-profit organization, formed in 2006. As a response to the often sterile and myopic approach to creative businesses, its founding members came together with the intention of initiating meaningful dialogues and projects within the business and educational realms of the global creative industries. Through independent research and innovative policy solutions, the SFTT plans to interact with not only active business leaders but also to share and discuss their ideas with students preparing to enter the international creative markets.
The SFTT has two primary educational projects presently active: Campus Music International and Six Finger Learning.
Campus Music International (CMI):
CMI is an international project which provides music business students with a real opportunity to work with artists that are signed to major and independent labels.
CMI is establishing long-term relationships with university music business programs in order to give the new generation of music industry personnel solid experience and develop the careers of artists with long-term international potential. CMI is designed to provide:
*students - collectively working in music companies at educational institutions - with business experience in an international setting working with real artists and with peer companies in different regions and countries;
* students - as individuals who will work in the music business - with an international network of future business partners and colleagues; music companies and artists with a global network of support and services surpassing those of most major record labels.
CMI will provide the music industry with new models of operation which have been tested and evaluated in the field.
Regionally, nationally and internationally networked music business programs/classes will assist the Six Finger Think Tank in the planning, promotion and evaluation of music tours.
Every phase of touring will be supervised by the SFTT, and executed by local university students and faculty.
CMI tours will feature artists signed to major and independent labels.
