Site5 Internet Solutions, Inc. is a San Ramon-based web hosting provider. Founded in 1998 by Matt Lightner and Rod Armstrong, Site5 has built a customer base of more than 25,000 accounts with an estimated 188,000 domain names. Financing the entire process through personal investments, the founders grew Site5 from a small company reselling single hosting accounts to an established presence in the web hosting industry, maintaining over 200 shared hosting and reseller hosting servers. Software Development Site5's engineering team, headed by CEO Matt Lightner and CSA David Felstead, developed and released an in-house, Ruby on Rails-based customer control panel called Backstage. The Backstage customer portal is the client-side interface of Site5's administrative control panel, Synco. Services Site5 was well-received by web hosting enthusiasts because of their great support and reliability. As of mid-July 2007, The Planet data centers have partnered with Site5 to serve as their exclusive infrastructure provider. This partnership is expected to dramatically boost Site5's server speed and reliability in order to cater to their growing customer base.
