Sir Edward Threston

Sir Edward Threston was a Knight Templar at The Sanford Cartulary during the 13th century in England. Threston's name along with other Knights Templar were compiled into a list as ordered by Robert le Eascropp, Preceptor of the Sandford Templars during this time period. The list was later updated in 1938 by Agnes M Leys for the Oxfordshire Record Society. It is said to be the only complete account of Knights Templar in England.
Due to Edward Threston'sservice as a Knights Templar he would have been knighted and titled as Sir Edward Threston. The title was also passed along to Threston family members such as his wife and children. It is likely it was during this period when the Threston family coat of arms (Blazon of Arms: Gules, an ostrich argent; Translation - Gules (red) denotes fortitude; Crest - An ostrich as in the arms; Origin: England) was created.
