Simone Torri

Simone Torri (born 1981) is an Italian painter.
Biography
Simone Gerardo Torri was born in Tione di Trento, Südtirol in 1981. Torri began his career as an artist aged six with some family portraits. He won his first prize aged 9. In the early 1990s he got involved with graffiti art. Through this he met Dario Bonazzi, Count of Suzzara (1982-2003), an artist with whom Torri wrote the manifesto of oroccoccoro art. He then studied art with Gianfranco Bonetti, and afterwards with Fabio Maria Linari. The latter always considers Torri as his pupil. From there he started great commissions such as the portrait of Dionigi Tettamanzi, archbishop of Genoa, and the portrait of Gabriele D'Annunzio in Brescia Airport, which is named for him.
In this year he attended to the re-opening of the La Fenice theatre in Venice with an exhibition of Giacomo Linari, Fabio Maria Linari and himself tracking three generations of Italian neo-post-romantic painting. He will also be shown in the Museum of Contemporary Art Games alongside Dechirico, Balla and Boccioni in a personal homage to the artist.
Torri began working as a tattoo artist in 2010, using skills learnt as a painter of graffiti.<ref name=fartamerica/>
Torri's work can be found in the museum of the Basilica di S. Martino and Bormio City Hall in Italy.
