Silver Medal (Maalaala Mo Kaya)

"Silver Medal" is the 37th episode of the 24th season of the Filipino drama anthology series Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK) written by Mary Rose Colindres, and directed by Dado Lumibao, it aired on ABS-CBN in the Philippines on September 24, 2016. This episode depicts the early life of Filipina Olympic weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz before becoming a silver medalist in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.
This episode was re-aired on July 31, 2021 as the 23rd episode of the 29th season of the program via Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live and A2Z. This time titled as "Ginto" (), it was re-aired when Diaz have become the country's first Olympic gold medalist after the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo in 2021.
Synopsis
Hidilyn Diaz, living an impoverished and lonely life in Zamboanga City, have found interest in weightlifting after being invited to train for the sport, even facing discrimination on the basis of sex. Despite excelling in her craft, Hidilyn feels underwhelmed as she craves for her family's affection, and feels sad as other people have started to recognize her work as a weightlifter other than her family. Unfortunate events would add more weight on her when she was injured and was unable to compete, when her coach was fired, and when she broke up with her boyfriend. Things would change as her mother would make her move to make up for the lost moments and for the pain that Hidilyn, just like the weight of the barbell, have carried with her hands and body all her life.
