Shanghai University's Sydney Institute of Language and Commerce (悉尼工商學院) is part of a joint venture with University of Technology, Sydney. In 2006 they held one of the first western style graduation ceremonies in China.

They often hire as many as 40 foreign teaching staff, far more than any other part of Shanghai University.
