Shooting Star Theatrics

Shooting Star Theatrics Inc. is a non-profit community theatre company based in Hamilton, Ontario which focuses primarily on musical theatre, though occasionally will produce a non-musical play. They typically will produce one large show, at a full-sized downtown theatre, accompanied by a full pit orchestra, in August and 1-3 smaller shows at their studio theatre on Anchor Road, accompanied by piano or a small band. Its productions have been the result of the efforts of over 200 volunteers since its inception.
History
Shooting Star Theatrics Inc. began as the Shooting Star Theatre company in September of 2007. It was founded by a then 17 year old High School student named Elisa Sorbara. Their first production, The Boy Friend, debuted the company on August 22, 2008. Favourable reviews and word of mouth led to an expansion to 2 productions in the 2010 season and to 4 productions in 2011-12. In the 2011-2012 Shooting Star debuted the play Doomsday! by local playwright Jerry Sorbara. The 2012-13 season led to the addition of a dinner theatre show, Nunsense, in collaboration with local restaurant Spasso Ristorante.
