Sheila Crowley

Dr. Sheila Crowley is a veteran social worker, affordable housing advocate and former President and CEO of the Washington DC-based National Low Income Housing Coalition. She retired as the head of NLIHC after leading the organization for 17 years. She had succeeded Cushing Dolbeare as NLIHC's president. Sheila, as an advocate for affordable housing for low income families, played a critical role in advocating for the creation of the National Housing Trust Fund under the Housing and Economic Rehabilitation Act (HERA) 2008. On her retirement, former U.S. Representative and House Financial Services Committee Chair Barney Frank (D-MA), admired Sheila for her longstanding commitment to social justice and affordable housing.
Sheila has testified several times before congressional hearings on the shortage of affordable and available housing across the nation. She is regularly interviewed by the media about her insights on affordable housing. She has been quoted by the New York Times, the Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, the National Public Radio, Bloomberg, USA Today, etc.
