Seyi Brown is a Nigerian born comedian and actor based in the United States. He is credited as the first Nigerian comedian to have his comedy special “Nigerian American" on the popular internet streaming platform, Netflix. Early life and career Seyi hails from the Egba ethnic group of Ogun, a southwestern state in Nigeria. Born to a father who was a prophet and a mother who was an evangelist. He grew up in Lagos State before migrating to the United States in 2008 where has three kids. In 2013, Brown lost his mother in Lagos State. Seyi Brown has a philosophy and political science degree from the University of Ibadan After seeing Eddie Murphy’s movie “Trading Places”, Brown decided that he wanted to be a comedian. As an undergraduate at the University of Ibadan, he performed his first gig as the host and comedian of an event after the host failed to show up. He went on to become the host of the Lagos Lottery TV show. As an actor, Seyi starred as Andrew Bande in the Nigerian Medical Drama series “Doctor’s Quarters” In 2015, He was casted in Night to Laugh and International Affairs in 2018. Seyi credits his father and Chris Rock as his influences while growing up. His style of comedy has been described as family-friendly, contemporary, quick-witted with an off the cuff delivery style. During the course of his career, Seyi has been recognized for his work through a host of awards which include the HAPA Award for Best Comedian in 2019
