Semmes Motor Company was an automobile dealership in 21st Street and L Street, N.W., Washington, D.C..
Products and services
The company was specialised in painting, trimming and repairing of delivery trucks. A collection of 75 high-resolution photographs of their vehicles and workshops is available in the Library of Congress. In July 1917, the Semmes Motor Company took over the Union Building on G Street, the venue for the 1917 Auto Show and offered 24-hour repair service as well as showrooms for Dodge and Hudson cars. There, it provided a service station and sold new and used cars. In winter 1918 it delivered a limited number of Touring Cars of the Dodge Brothers Motor Company and separate winter tops for these vehicles from their offices at 1100 Connecticut Avenue in Washington D.C.
