SelfCloud

SelfCloud is an application that helps user to have the same photo, music, video, and documents on all of his/her devices anytime and anywhere, without any help of third party server. The users will be able to view just the same files on their any device anytime. Nevertheless, no third party server holds the files of user; All of the contents reside on user's own devices.
The basic idea of SelfCloud is to have self-built, self-operated and self serviced cloud. The idea is something similar to the private cloud products or personal cloud; however, it is pure software solution that is installed to the ordinary smart phone product.
SelfCloud was developed by GoldenPack Tech. Development Co., Ltd. in China.
Functions
The basic functions of SelfCloud are MyBox, ShareBox, and One2One
MyBox is the function to synchronize contents between the single user's devices. ShareBox synchronizes the data between different users - the users can share their files. One2One is a single-shot data transfer mechanism.
Once the user shares the file using SelfCloud, the sharing notification is given by mail, Facebook, and/or SMS.
History
SelfCloud is based on the iFMW service that was developed by GoldenPack
:September 2009 : iFMW 1.0 released as a personal communication tool with direct file sharing and personal web site service.
:November 2010 : iFMW 1.0 was upgraded to iFMW 1.1; resource sharing function was intensified with other functionalities.
:April 2011 : iFMW 2.0 released; notification and easy file sharing utilities were added.
:September 2011 : SelfCloud released; a new concept of private clouding service emerged.
One2One
One2One is a function that used to one time direct contents delivery. The users can select content files and target user, and then send to that friend directly.
MyBox
MyBox is a function that the users can share and synchronize their contents between their own devices. The concept is similar to the DropBox with the exception that SelfCloud service itself does not hold the data. The files are exchanged directly between the devices.
When the user put the data files in the MyBox, they are automatically synchronized between the machines logged in with the same ID. The user can have seamless networked data storage crossing his/her devices.
ShareBox
ShareBox is a space the users share their contents with different users. The contents in the ShareBox are synchronized automatically between the users declared as friend to the cloud box.
This box is used to share same resource files between friends, companions, or family. For example, a salesman can share the sample of the goods with the developers.
Owning Self Data
The difference of SelfCloud from other public or private cloud products is just that there is no data center in the SelfCloud service system. Where does it store the files? The user smart phone, PC, and tablets are clouded server themselves.
Unlike Tonido Plug or Microsoft private cloud, SelfCloud does not require server device.
Critics
In the SelfCloud, mobile application works in server mode. It can consume the traffic and power. It is said that new version introduced sleep mode and notification mechanism to save power and traffic.
