Seetha I. Wickremasinghe

Dr Seetha I. Wickremasinghe is a well experienced science manager and administrator. She is currently a free-lance researcher in Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Policy.
She has a PhD in Science Policy from the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. Her area of specialization is the study of agricultural and rural innovation and the application of the innovation systems concept. She is also conversant in Research, Development and innovation surveys, and analyzing STI indicators for policy development.
Dr . Wickremasinghe has extensive research experience in Science and Technology human resource development, Brain Drain of scientific communities, women in science and science education research related subjects.
Dr. Wickremasinghe serves as a Resource Person in STI policy, science education, S&T human resource development and related areas.

Dr. Wickremasinghe is also a well experienced scientific editor and has editorial experience for more than twenty (20) years. Currently she is serving as the Assistant Editor of the Journal of the National Science Foundation of Sri Lanka, which is being cited by Thomson Reuters Science Citation Index.
Early life & Education
Dr. (Mrs) Seetha I. Wickremasinghe was born on 5 May 1956 in Matale, Sri Lanka.She obtained her primary education at the B.M.S. (Baptist Missionary Society) School (at present, Sri Sangamitta Balika National School, Matale) and the secondary education at the Government Science College, Matale. She is a Special (Hons.) degree graduate in Botany and MSc (Agriculture) graduate of the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Dr Wickremasinghe holds a PhD in Science Policy from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
Family
Married to Associate Professor W.N.Wickremasinghe, Department of Statistics, University of Colombo. Has two daughters Dr. Navindee C. Wickremasinghe, (Also Use her Name as Navindee Charya Wickremasinghe) Department of Chemistry, Rice University, USA and Ms. Madara I. Wickremasinghe, Interior Designer, graduated from Academy of Design (AoD), Colombo, Sri Lanka(affiliated to Northumbria University, U.K.).
Career
Immediate past position: Acting Director General, National Science Foundation from 15 May 2015 - 3 May 2016) and Additional Director from 16 June 2013 4 May 2016, Also served as Head/ Science and Technology Policy Research Division of NSF for eight (08) years from January 2005 - June 2013.Also worked as Assistant Biochemist in the Prestigious Rubber Research Institute of Sri Lanka before joining the National Science Foundation.
