Seattle National Hockey League team

The Seattle National Hockey League team is a proposed future franchise in the National Hockey League to be based in Seattle, Washington. This comes in the wake of a possible sale of the Phoenix Coyotes franchise from the league to investors Ray Bartoczek and Anthony Lanza. The deadline for the city of Glendale, Arizona, where the Coyotes play at the city-owned Jobing.com Arena, to come up with a proposal to keep the franchise in Arizona is July 2, 2013, as set by league commissioner Gary Bettman. If the city fails to come to an agreement with the NHL, the franchise could wind up moving to Seattle immediately and play temporarily at Key Arena, former home of the original Seattle SuperSonics NBA franchise which relocated to Oklahoma City and became the Oklahoma City Thunder.
There are currently two Facebook campaigns and a Twitter account among other social media sites to help bring an NHL franchise to Seattle. The NHL Northwest website is also promoting the "We're Ready" campaign encouraging fans in Seattle to convince the NHL to bring the franchise, possibly the Coyotes, to Seattle.
Should the franchise relocate to Seattle, it would be the first time there would be a professional hockey team in the city since the 1917 Stanley Cup champion Seattle Metropolitans, which was won before the formation of the NHL. Another team that would have played prior to this team would be the Seattle Totems of the Pacific Coast Hockey League/Western Hockey League, where they won three Lester Patrick Cup and the Central Hockey League.
