Sealed Housing Technology

The Sealed-Housing-Technology (SHT) has been developed by Laserworld (Switzerland) AG in 2010 to define a special show laser projector housing setup.
The intention of this special setup is to prevent airflow inside the housing in the part where optical components are mounted.
Introduction
The efficiency of show laser systems is closely linked to the quality and cleanness of the optical components, like deflection mirrors or dichroic filters. Small portions of dust or dirt can dramatically decrease output brightness and thus reduce efficiency of the system.
Higher powered laser impact could even break the optical parts if they are not absolutely clean.
Target
The Sealed-Housing-Technology is used to prevent the dirt of the optical components in a show laser system. It should reduce the system maintenance efforts and the general system wear-off.
Technical Description
The Sealed-Housing-Technology defines the setup of a show laser projector with at least one compartment with no airflow / no active cooling through fans. The projector may consist of only one compartment that is completely sealed, but may also consist of several compartments as well.
At least the optical components laser sources, deflection mirrors, dichroic filters and scanners must be protected against airflow.
Other components, as power supply units or electronic boards may be actively cooled.
The sealing must at least prevent that dust enters the housing through active cooling units like fans. Holes and cable apertures must be covered in the sealed compartment.

Limitations
The Sealed-Housing-Technology does not provide protection against water, high humidity or condensation. It only defines the protection of the optical components.
Application fields
* Nightclubs - due to the use of artificial fog or haze
* Bars or similar - due to cigarette smoke
* Venues with dusty conditions
* Installations in areas that are hard to access for maintenance works
Use in show laser systems
After the definition by Laserworld in 2010 several other companies provide systems with the Sealed-Housing-Technology label, e.g. Ray Technologies GmbH, SwissLas, HB-Laser, Bocatec, Phoenix Showcontroller and Emotion Media Factory
