Merton McKenzie, also known as Scrapy D, is the founder of DancehallReggae.com and a top videographer and distributor of dances and dancehall events in Jamaica. A native of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, Scrapy founded the website in 1995 as a student at Rutgers University in New Jersey. It quickly grew into the premier source for news, discussion, photos, audio, and video of dancehall events in the United States and Jamaica. The site now focuses primarily on DVD sales and event photos, though its message board and lyrics section remain popular. In 2006, McKenzie was convicted of illegally recording and selling DVD video of the 2004 Rebel Salute concert, an annual event spearheaded by reggae singer Tony Rebel. He was fined JA$420,000 and sentenced one year in prison (suspended).
