Scott Jenkins is an American who served as sheriff of Culpeper County, Virginia from 2011 to 2023. Sheriff Scott Howard Jenkins was elected sheriff of Culpeper County, Virginia in 2011. After the Democratic Party won a majority in the Virginia General Assembly at the 2019 state legislative elections, Jenkins pledged to deputize residents of Culpeper County if the assembly adopted gun control measures. He lost his November 2023 re-election bid. Bribery In December 2024, a jury convicted Jenkins on one count of conspiracy, four counts of honest services fraud, and seven counts of bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds. Jenkins accepted over $75,000 in bribes in exchange for appointing numerous Northern Virginia businessmen as auxiliary deputy sheriffs within his department. He was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison on March 21, 2025. President Donald Trump granted Jenkins a presidential pardon on May 26, 2025, the day before Jenkins was due to start his sentence, describing him as the "victim of an overzealous Biden Department of Justice".
