Score Runoff Voting (SRV) is a voting system for single-seat elections. Unlike , where voters are limited to choosing a single favorite from the field of candidates, SRV uses a Score voting ballot that allows the voter to rate each candidate independently. The winner is determined in two steps. First, all the scores for all the candidates are summed. The two overall top scoring candidates move on to the second step, which functions as an instantaneous runoff. A voter's ballot in the runoff counts fully for whichever candidate received a higher score from that voter. Duplicate scores are allowed, however if a voter gave the same score to both candidates who advanced to the runoff step, that vote won't count in the runoff's outcome. For the sample shown, assuming Desi and Bianca were the two highest scoring candidates, the ballot would count for Bianca in the runoff because the voter scored Bianca a 9 and Desi a 5.
