Saturna Investment Trust, headquartered in Bellingham, WA is a business trust administering seven open-end management companies (mutual funds): Sextant Growth Fund (SSGFX), Sextant International Fund (SSIFX), Sextant Core Fund (SCORX), Sextant Global High Income Fund (SGHIX), Sextant Short-Term Bond Fund (STBFX), Sextant Bond Income Fund (SBIFX) and the Idaho Tax-Exempt Fund (NITEX).
History
Saturna Investment Trust was established February 20, 1987, under the original name of Northwest Investors Tax-Exempt Business Trust. Its name was later changed to Northwest Investors Trust on October 12, 1990. The Trust adopted its current name of Saturna Investment Trust on September 28, 1995 at the time the Sextant Fund Series was created.

*Historical background: The fund originally began on April 1, 1987 as the Idaho Limited Maturity Tax-Exempt Fund. On December 4, 1990 the fund was renamed the Northwest Growth Fund with the objective of investing in stocks from the U.S. Pacific Northwest. The fund was renamed the Sextant Growth Fund on September 28, 1995.

Organization and Structure
Saturna Capital Corporation is the investment advisor and administrator of the Saturna Investment Trust as well as the Amana Mutual Funds Trust. Saturna Capital Corporation, established in 1989, is administrator to $3.8 billion in assets under management as of September 11, 2012.
Saturna Sdn. Bhd., located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is a wholly owned subsidiary of Saturna Capital Corporation.
Saturna Brokerage Services is the distributor of Saturna Investment Trust and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Saturna Capital Corporation.

Nicholas Kaiser
The Sextant Growth Fund and Sextant International Fund portfolios have been managed since 1989 and 1995, respectively, by Nicholas Kaiser, MBA, CFA, (Founder, chairman and controlling shareowner of Saturna Capital Corporation). His educational background includes an economics degree from Yale College and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Chicago (1968) with dual majors in economics and finance.
Phelps McIlvaine
The Idaho Tax-Exempt Fund, Sextant Bond Fund and Sextant Short-Term Bond Fund portfolios have been managed since 1995 by Phelps McIlvaine (Director and vice president of Saturna Capital Corporation and chief financial officer of Saturna Brokerage Services). His educational background includes a BA in economics from the University of Denver, 1975 Phi Beta Kappa).
Peter Nielsen
The Sextant Core Fund has been managed by Peter Nielsen, MBA, CFA, since 2008. His educational background includes a BA in Business Administration from Trinity Western University (British Columbia) and a master’s degree in business administration from Simon Fraser University (British Columbia).
Bryce Fegley and John Scott
The Sextant Global High Income Fund has been jointly managed by Bryce Fegley, CFA, and John Scott, CFA, since 2012. Mr. Fegley joined Saturna Capital as a broker/trader in 2001 and later became an investment analyst. In 2010 he was promoted to president of Saturna's investment management subsidiary, Saturna Sdn. Bhd., located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He returned to Saturna Capital headquarters in Bellingham, Washington, in 2012. He holds a BA in English Literature from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Mr. Scott joined Saturna Capital as an investment analyst in 2009. He holds a BA in Business Administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Washington.
