Sardar Jaff

Sardar Jaff (1937—2005) was a Kurdish Politician and the leader of the Jaff tribe. He was born in Kalar, Kurdistan in Sherwana Castle. His father was Dawood Jaff, the grandson of King Mohammed Jaff. His mother was Lady Khawer Talabani, who was the daughter of Sheikh Mohamed Talabani (a grandson of Sheikh Abdul Rahman Talabani, the leader of Talabani sect as well as having founded the Talbani Takeia in Kirkuk, Iraq). Making him cousin with current President Jalal Talabani of Iraq. Sardar Jaff married Maryam Gazi, who was the daughter of Gazi Mohammed, the former president of the Republic of Iranian Kurdistan. Together, they had two daughters and a son. Sardar Jaff was a successful businessman in oil, gas, banking, and construction companies. He died on July 20, 2005, at the John Hopkins Hospital. Today the Jaff Tribe has around three million members.
