Sarata Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi was the first lady of Zamfara State in 2007 as the wife to the second executive governor of Zamfara state, Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi. She is the founder and initiator of the Smart Initiative of Women Empowerment Foundation. Early Life and Education Hajiya Saratu was born in Shinkafi,to the family of Alhaji Nuhu shinkafi and Balkisu Nuhu Shinkafi some 38 years back. She started her educational career by attending Qur’anic school at the age of three. She was later recorded to attend the Federal College of Education (Technical) in Gusau, pursuing her NCE certificate. career Hajiya Jummai was a teacher and an education research officer in the Education Resource Center, Abuja and a guidance and counselling officer at the Education Resource Center, Abuja. She is the founder and chair of Life Rehabilitation Foundation for Womanhood, and the Matron of many organizations such as IWO (Nigerian chapter), the National Association of Students Nurses and Midwifery (Niger State Chapter), and the Grand Matron, Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) (Niger State chapter). Honours Jummai has received many accolades towards her generosity and humanitarianism. The African Mandate Global Initiative in Collaboration with Fix Nigerian Initiative awarded her for being a woman of integrity and examplary leadership in 2008. She also received a merit award form the National Council of Women in 2007 and 2008 and the Association for Peace and Progress in Nigeria (APPRON) gave her an award for being a real motivation.
