Santa Barbara County Office of Arts and Culture

The (SBCOAC) serves under Santa Barbara County’s Community Services Department as the local governmental umbrella for all arts and culture projects and programs within Santa Barbara County.
The SBCOAC represents a partnership between the County of Santa Barbara and the City of Santa Barbara. For over 30 years, both governments have shared resources and staff to maximize support for Santa Barbara arts and culture institutions, programs, initiatives and projects.
As the regional cultural development agency, the SBCOAC is a State and Local Partner of the California Arts Council. The SBCOAC is involved with numerous city, county and state-wide advocacy initiatives on an ongoing basis. The Office of Arts and Culture is committed to employing the arts as a tool and catalyst for greater community engagement and resource to expand cross-cultural understanding.
The SBCOAC provides staff support for three City advisory committees (Arts Advisory Committee, Visual Arts in Public Places Committee and the ) and two County advisory commissions (County Arts Commission and County Arts in Public Places). Through these commissions and committees, the SBCOAC administers, oversees and disburses four separate grant programs: City Arts, Events & Festivals, Organizational Development and County Arts Enrichment.

Additionally, the SBCOAC is responsible for programming the Jardin de las Grenadas and the State of the Art Gallery. Maintenance of the Berkus Collection and Collin Campbell Cooper Collection (owned by the County and City, respectively) also falls under the purview of the SBCOAC.
